Thanks for stopping by!
My name is Joyce and these are my personal pages where I post tidbits about sewing and clothing design.
A Little About Me
I have been sewing since 1970 when my mother taught me how to use the sewing machine when I was 12 years old. I made my first garment soon after and have been sewing ever since!
Costuming Was My Forte
Once I knew how to sew, costuming soon became my passion. The first costume I recall constructing was akin to Barbara Eden's outfit from "I Dream of Jeannie". Since then I could hardly stand the wait for Halloween and even started coming up with ideas for costumes in January. In my 20's I discovered belly dancing and my cabaret outfits were adorned with coins and beads. In my 30's I fell in love with The Society for Creative Anachronism. There, the opportunity for costuming is endless. In my 40's I learned about Islam and SCI-Fi conventions and found a whole new world of clothing design and costuming to explore.
Making My Own Fabric
I discovered the joys of weaving in 2009. I found that making my own fabric is extremely satisfying and rewarding. I created 2 new web pages: Rigid Heddle Weaving and Joy of Weaving as an extention of this endeavor. I hope you have a chance to visit there too.
