The "Activity Organisers Forum - Wales was set up in February 2008. Its aim is to provide learning and support network for activity organisers in care homes. Since its inception it has attracted aos from East, South and West Wales, and has proven very successful. Inspiration Healthcare Training believes that the stimulation the service users receives from activities is every bit as important as the standard of care they are given. The aim of the forum is to raise the bar in the provision of activities for service users in care homes and give them a better quality of life. In doing so give better job satisfaction to the aos who do a responsible and sometimes difficult and demanding job. The "Tapestry of Life" event was held at the Orangery, Margam Park on the 30th September 2009. It was billed as being an Eisteddfod for residents of care homes in the south of Wales. (The first of its kind in the United Kingdom) The category of exhibits included: Knitting, Crochet, Sewing, Embroidery, Basket Weaving, Pottery, Drawing, Painting oils or water colour, Choirs, Duets or Solos, Poetry, Stories or Life Stories, Group or Individual Story writing. The day started with the Deputy Mayor of Neath & Port Talbot declaring the day open. Richard, from Lost chord, entertained us with a medley of songs to which we could all sing along too.
