OK, since Im being a bit lazy at the moment, Im recycling another blogpost from the 78 rpm blog, originally written in 2005, and put it up here instead. After all, there are more people active here, so here we go: The Swedish label "Karusell" was started and owned by the Swedish bass player and jazz impressario Simon Brehm (1921-67). Thanks to Brehm's drive, lots of nice jazz records were released in the 50s on the different Karusell labels. The most common Karusell label (the K-series) was red, blue and white, and there was a yellow and black budget label (mainly with recordings from the Bell label). There were also two jazz labels (some good jazz appeared in the K-series although) with material from the Norman Granz labels Clef and Norgran; the black JATP label (5000-series) and the blue JATP label (1000-series). And as you can see, this record comes from the blue JATP (Jazz at the Philharmonic) label. Clarinet player Buddy de Franco is not among my favourites, but this recording (from 1953) is an inspired one. It's also one of the records I like to play, when I want to show people that 78s are not only scratches and surface noise. They can actually sound this good!

The result of nothing planned for the day and a 15 pound bag of clay. This is obviously a high budget film, with tons of multimillion dollar CGI effects, like dental floss and red paper. Each frame is going at 0.75 seconds because any faster would have been too fast and there weren't enough photos to get it going at a smooth 25FPS.
