Tallies show that more than 1000 Jewish students attended Purim parties at Chabad-Lubavitch centers serving universities across the United Kingdom. Rabbi Eli Brackman, chairman of Chabad on Campus UK, attributed the figures to the popularity of themed parties, from a celebration of Mexican culture and cuisine at the Leeds Chabad Student Centre to a China-themed bash at Nottingham University Chabad House. With the support of philanthropist and Oxford University alumnus David Slager, the network of campus centers has expanded rapidly in recent years, today counting Oxford, Cambridge, Bloomsburg, South London, Imperial College, Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol, Liverpool and Edinburgh in its roster.
