SOUNDBITE: Pope Benedict XVI "Dear friends, let us learn from Jesus not to judge or condemn our fellow men. Let us learn to be uncompromising with sin - beginning with our own - and lenient with people." The Pope did not mention the Catholic Church's abuse scandal - a day after he released a letter - that went further than any other papal statement on sex abuse by priests. In the letter, the Pope expressed remorse, ordered an inquiry into some dioceses in Ireland and said bishops could not hide abuse cases from police. Across Ireland, Catholics attending mass on Sunday had mixed reactions to the letter.
