The Toledo Zen Center had it's first Jukai ceremony in February, 2010. In short, 16 students committed themselves to a life that embodies 16 moral precepts. In the tradition of Zen Buddhism, this is the path of the Bodhisattva. Part of the preparations involved the sewing of a rakusu. This is a garment worn during zazen, services and training activities. In embodies a life built, stitch by stitch, building towards an existence that seeks to bring equanimity and harmony to all.
